An 18-year-old apprentice in Anambra State has reportedly impregnated 10 girls within just five months, including his master’s daughter and a salesgirl.
According to reports, the teenager was sent to learn a trade under a master. However, within three months, he allegedly impregnated both his boss’s daughter and the salesgirl working at the shop. This led to his immediate dismissal from the apprenticeship.
The shocking revelation was made by the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, during a live social media broadcast.
She said the situation escalated after the boy returned to his village. “I want advice from the public because this one is beyond my capacity. This boy was sent to learn a trade at the age of 18 and three months of apprenticeship, and he impregnated his master’s daughter and his salesgirl. He was sent packing. Two months after that, he impregnated eight other girls in the village.”
Obinabo further revealed that the boy’s mother had visited her office, visibly overwhelmed by the situation. “Anytime I see a girl coming towards our house nowadays, my heart would jump, please, I need help,” the mother reportedly said.
The Commissioner expressed concern that the situation might have deeper implications. “Is it spiritual?” she asked during the broadcast. Obinabo said she questioned the boy about how he managed to get so many girls pregnant, and he responded that he simply promised them love and marriage. “He told me he would say he loved them and would marry them once he acquired wealth.”
To protect their identities, the Commissioner did not disclose the names of the boy, his mother, or their community. She ended her remarks by urging members of the public to offer suggestions on how to address the disturbing situation.
