I Never Paid Bandits, I Built Houses for Their Victims — Kaduna Governor Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has debunked claims that his administration paid money to bandits, stating that his focus has been on supporting victims of insecurity rather than negotiating with perpetrators.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time on Thursday, the governor dismissed the allegations, recalling that at the start of his tenure, some critics accused him of attempting to offer payments to bandits to curb insecurity.

“I told them clearly, a man who has fought for justice and stood for the downtr%dden all his life cannot sit and negotiate with b@ndits,” he said.

Governor Sani emphasized that his administration recently launched a housing initiative for victims of insurgency in Kaduna State. “I haven’t given a single naira to b@ndits, but I have built homes for those they displaced,” he stated.

He stressed the importance of community involvement in addressing security challenges, noting that sustainable solutions must be driven from the grassroots. “As a governor, you can’t lead that alone, it must be community-owned,” he said.

Sani also highlighted his administration’s success in preventing farmer-herder cl@shes, attributing the peace to an inclusive governance style that involves all communities. “We’ve had no farmer-herder conflict in Kaduna under my watch. We achieved this through inclusivity by bringing everyone to the table. President Tinubu doesn’t need to come north to teach you how to lead your state,” he added.
