Fubara: If He Comes Back, He May Not Have A Single Commissioner Nominated By Him — Ojo

Fubara: Ojo, a seasoned political analyst, has issued a grim forecast for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, suggesting that his political standing could be irreparably damaged. Ojo believes that if Fubara is reinstated after his suspension, he may face a government in which no commissioner, councillor, or lawmaker owes him loyalty.

During an interview with Symfoni TV, Ojo dissected the fallout from the governor’s political conflict with former Rivers State leader Nyesom Wike. He noted that even after both parties entered into a peace agreement, Fubara took the surprising step of dismantling his political organisation, the Simplified Movement—thereby depriving himself of a functional political structure.

According to Ojo, this action signalled complete capitulation to Wike’s political dominance. He pointed out that Fubara even discouraged his followers from gearing up for the 2027 elections and dissolved all campaign preparations. Historical political movements like the Zikists, Awoists, and the grassroots network of Ahmadu Bello have endured through decades, Ojo argued, yet Fubara’s movement was scrapped in its infancy.

Ojo concluded that the governor’s future is now precarious. Should he return to power, his cabinet, local councils, and state legislature could be filled entirely with individuals loyal to someone else. He described this as a case of a sitting governor—despite his resources and authority—being subdued by a political force outside the formal structures of power, a dynamic he predicts will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future.
