According to a post on 13 August 2025 by Martins Wachukwu, Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, alongside 27 Assembly members, attended the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Flag-Off ahead of the 30th August Local Government Elections.
The colourful event, held at Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt, attracted party leaders, candidates, stakeholders, and enthusiastic supporters from all 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
Addressing the crowd, Speaker Amaewhule reaffirmed the PDP’s determination to secure an overwhelming victory in the upcoming polls.
He described the PDP as the only political platform with a proven record of delivering people-oriented governance in Rivers State and urged members to intensify grassroots mobilization.
The campaign flag-off featured the official presentation of the party’s candidates for chairmanship and councillorship positions, accompanied by musical performances, solidarity speeches, and the symbolic hoisting of the PDP flag to signal the start of the campaign season.
With the elections drawing closer, the PDP in Rivers State has expressed confidence in retaining its dominance at the grassroots level in the 30th August 2025 Local Government Elections.
