Ex-Kogi Gov. Yahaya Bello Orders Newly Elected Lawmaker to Sit on Floor, Pledges Loyalty to Gov. Ododo

A viral video has surfaced showing former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, instructing newly elected State House of Assembly member, Hassan Shado, and his supporters to sit on the floor during a meeting in Abuja.

At the meeting, Bello warned the lawmaker-elect to obey every directive of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in the discharge of his duties.

Bello hosted members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his residence on Monday, where Shado, winner of the August 16 Dekina-Okura II State Constituency by-election, was formally presented to him. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Shado winner with 55,073 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Godwin Meliga, who secured 1,038 votes.

In his remarks, Bello charged Shado to cooperate fully with the Speaker and other Assembly members in supporting Governor Ododo’s administration. Emphasizing his point, Bello drew the lawmaker-elect’s ear and said: “In everything that comes to the Assembly, everything, even if you don’t understand it, support the governor.”

The former governor also reminded Shado that his victory was a product of collective effort, urging him to embrace inclusivity, consultation, and loyalty to party members and grassroots supporters who worked for his success.
