President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday announced that his administration has achieved its annual revenue target ahead of schedule, largely driven by growth in the non-oil sector.
Speaking while hosting members of The Buhari Organization (TBO), a group of former Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) members led by former Nasarawa State governor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Tinubu said the economy has stabilized and the government no longer borrows from local banks.
The President urged his supporters not to be intimidated ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that his administration is focused on job creation and economic growth. “As I stand before you, I can boldly say Nigeria is no longer borrowing a dime from local banks. We have met our revenue target for the year, and we achieved that in August,” he said.
Tinubu also recalled the early days of the APC’s formation, commending members of the defunct CPC who remained loyal despite not receiving political appointments. He assured them of consideration for ambassadorial slots, noting that patience and sacrifice would be rewarded.
Highlighting his economic plans, the President said his government has launched a nationwide agricultural mechanization program, with each region set to have a mechanized center to boost food production, train youths, and strengthen food security.
Tinubu emphasized that his administration is committed to sustaining stability, creating jobs, and consolidating the legacies of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Projecting confidence, the President dismissed external concerns, including actions by former U.S. President Donald Trump, saying non-oil revenue growth leaves Nigeria better positioned for resilience
