Former Seattle Seahawks running back and 2005 NFL MVP Shaun Alexander has shared that he and his wife, Valerie, are set to welcome their 14th child.
The 48-year-old made the announcement during a recent appearance on the Up & Adams show, telling host Kay Adams,
“We’re just now starting to tell people, but number 14 is in the belly,” prompting cheers and surprise reactions from fans. Valerie later confirmed the news on Instagram, revealing that the baby is due on February 17, 2026. In her post, she described the pregnancy as “another miracle and blessing,” adding: “Every child is a miracle, a blessing, and a gift!! We thank God for each of our children and count them as true treasures!!”
Shaun and Valerie, who married in 2002, already have 13 children 10 daughters and three sons. They have not yet disclosed the gender of the new baby. The couple has also spoken openly about the loss of their daughter Torah, who died at just two months old in 2017, an experience that has deepened their appreciation for family.
Alexander, widely regarded as one of Seattle’s greatest players, was drafted in 2000 and went on to become league MVP in 2005, leading the Seahawks to a Super Bowl appearance. He remains a celebrated figure in the NFL and was inducted into the Seahawks’ Ring of Honor in 2022.
The announcement of his ever-growing family sparked light-hearted banter online, with Adams joking on her show that Alexander might even outdo Philip Rivers another NFL star known for his large family.
