Former BBC Radio 1 DJ, Tim Westwood, has been charged with multiple s+x¥al offences involving seven women, including four counts of r+pe.
The Metropolitan Police said the 68-year-old faces charges relating to incidents that allegedly occurred between 1983 and 2016. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
According to police, the alleged offences include the r+pe of a girl aged 17–18 in London between 1995 and 1996, and a s+x¥al a§§ault on the same victim during the same period. Westwood also faces charges of r+ping and s+x¥ally a§§aulting another woman aged 17–18 between 2000 and 2002, as well as r+ping a woman in her 20s in 2010.
Additional charges include indecent a§§ault of a 17-year-old girl in Fulham in 1983, s+x¥al a§§ault of a woman in her 20s in Vauxhall in 1986, s+x¥al a§§ault of another woman in her 20s in Stroud in 2010, and the most recent charge — s+x¥al a§§ault of a woman in her 20s in Finchley, north London, in 2016.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy praised the women who reported the allegations, saying they had shown “great courage” and that they continue to receive full support from specialist officers. He urged others with information to contact the police in confidence.
Chief Crown Prosecutor Lionel Idan confirmed that prosecutors found sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial, noting that it was “in the public interest” to proceed.
He also cautioned the public against sharing commentary or information online that could prejudice the ongoing legal process.
Tim Westwood is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court next month.
