Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a large consignment of tr%madol capsules concealed inside a 100-litre water heater tank in Kwara State.
According to the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the operation followed credible intelligence that led to the arrest of a 40-year-old suspect, Umar Abubakar, at Bode Saadu in Moro Local Government Area on Tuesday, October 21.
During the raid, NDLEA officers recovered 21,950 capsules of tr%madol 250mg ingeniously concealed within the water heater. Babafemi commended the professionalism and intelligence-led efforts of the officers, noting that only through such vigilance could traffickers’ evolving tactics be uncovered.
“But for professionalism and intelligence-led interdiction by NDLEA officers, how could anyone have imagined that water heater tanks could be converted into a channel for trafficking illicit substances?” he remarked.
He explained that the discovery underscores how dr¥g tr+ffickers continue to devise sophisticated methods to evade detection, while NDLEA remains committed to countering them through innovation and intelligence.
The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.
