Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga has praised President Bola Tinubu for his willingness to make corrections when necessary, describing him as a leader unafraid to reverse himself when situations demand.

“Our president is not one that is afraid to reverse himself. He can make mistakes he is human but he immediately makes necessary adjustments, and that’s what he has done in this case of pardon and so on,” Onanuga said.

He explained that much of the public criticism centered on the case of Mariam, who was sentenced to d+ath for k+lling her husband, as well as some dr¥g offenders listed among those granted clemency.

“Most of these offenders were not pardoned; their punishments were only reduced. In Mariam’s case, instead of h+nging, she was given 12 years imprisonment,” he clarified.

Describing Tinubu as a compassionate leader, Onanuga added that the President’s actions reflect his humane philosophy and empathy.

“Mariam’s case was a bit complicated, especially since she has two children. It was a crime of passion — anything can happen between a man and a woman in the heat of the moment,” he added.
