According to a report by the Vanguard News on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Abba Kyari, the suspended DCP, revealed to the Federal High Court in Abuja that he cannot put his interest about the property in the form because the 20 houses belong to his father and not him. He noted that his father left the 20 houses for his children.
The NDLEA lawyer asked Kyari to review his asset declaration form and confirm if he’d disclosed his interest in the 20 properties inherited from his father. Kyari responded that he hadn’t declared them since they weren’t his assets.
Kyari stated that he couldn’t declare the 20 houses as his assets since they belong to his father, not him. He said he’d only declare his share once it’s allocated to him and can’t include his father’s properties, which are family assets, in his declaration form.
He said, “I cannot put my interest about the property in the form because the 20 houses belong to my father and not me.”
