“We’ve seen the children. Where are their abd¥ctors?” — Hon. Kafilat asks as she urges governors to take greater responsibility for security, adding that the president cannot be everywhere

Hon. Kafilat, the lawmaker representing Kosofe Federal Constituency in Lagos, has reiterated her demand for the establishment of state police amid rising insecurity across the country.

She stressed that security cannot be handled by the presidency alone, insisting that governors must take greater responsibility in safeguarding their states. According to her, “We need our governors to do more. The president cannot be everywhere, he cannot be in Sokoto, he cannot be in Zamfara, he cannot be in Ogun, and he cannot be in Lagos, his own state. We need our governors to do more. We have seen the children, where are the k+dn@ppers?”

Kafilat argued that decentralizing policing would empower states to respond more quickly to thr+ats such as k+dnappings and school abductions. She explained that local authorities are closer to the communities and better positioned to gather intelligence and deploy resources effectively.

The lawmaker added that Nigeria’s current centralized security system is overstretched and reactive, warning that “without state police, we will continue repeating the same cycle of reacting instead of preventing.”
