Troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled a large-scale att+ck by more than 300 ISWAP/Boko Haram fighters on Chibok, Borno State, in the early hours of Saturday.
The insurgents launched a coordinated a§§ault around 3 a.m., aiming to breach military defences, but were met with strong resistance and superior firepower from prepared soldiers. After nearly two hours of intense fighting, the t+rrorists retreated toward the Timbuktu Triangle area.
Ground troops immediately requested air support, prompting swift deployment of Nigerian Air Force combat aircraft and an armed drone. Four major airstr+kes, followed by precision drone hits on escape routes, neutralised many fleeing fighters, destroyed regrouping spots, and halted their withdrawal.
Security sources quoted by Zagazola Makama said the joint operation was highly effective, with insurgents s¥ffering “significant losses” and losing any opportunity to reorganise.
The successful defence of Chibok comes more than eleven years after the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls from the same community in 2014, highlighting the persistent threat posed by ISWAP in southern Borno despite ongoing military pressure.
No civilian casualties were recorded, and clearance operations in the area remain ongoing.
