Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has issued a stern warning against masquerades parading on the state’s streets, stating that anyone caught will face arrest and prosec¥tion.
Addressing the matter, Eno, who assumed office in 2023 and is known for his hands-on approach to security and community issues, said, “As the chief security officer of the state, I am directing the commissioner and other officials to arrest and prosecute anyone caught as a masquerade.”
The governor’s directive comes amid concerns over public safety and rising incidents of street disturbances during festive periods in Akwa Ibom. Eno emphasized that the state government is committed to ensuring law and order and protecting residents from any form of disruption.
Security agencies in the state have been instructed to remain vigilant and enforce the directive strictly, with the governor assuring residents that the safety of citizens remains a top priority for his administration.
