Ex-Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, Urges Nigerians Not to Blame Tinubu for Insecurity, Calls on Governors to Protect Their States

Former Abia governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has urged Nigerians to stop holding President Bola Tinubu responsible for the country’s insecurity, insisting that state governors are primarily responsible for tackling security challenges in their regions.

Kalu made the remarks during a New Year visit to Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the APC chairman in Ekoli Edda, Ebonyi State, where he spoke to journalists. He stressed that it is the duty of governors to protect the lives and property of their citizens to reduce insecurity nationwide.

Highlighting examples of effective governance, Kalu praised Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru for securing his state. He also recalled his own tenure as Abia governor, claiming that Abia was the safest state in the country under his administration, while other states like Warri and Port Harcourt faced widespread insecurity. “Nobody was k+dn@pped in Aba or Abia State because I was committed to the safety of our people,” he said.

Kalu emphasized that expecting the president to handle all security issues is misplaced, and called on all governors to prioritize the safety of their states, as Ebonyi’s governor is doing.

The senator also reiterated his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections. He said he will work to ensure the party’s victory in Abia State and support President Tinubu and APC governors in the next general elections. “Abia will be APC in 2027. I will lay my heart on the field to ensure our party’s success,” Kalu stated.
