Wike Is Campaigning On Alcohol, He Doesnt Know What He Says Or Does Most Of The Time - Prof. Odinkalu

In a recent statement via his official X account, former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Professor Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over his public conduct and statements.

‎Odinkalu made the comment in response to an online discussion about Wike’s recent public appearances and political activities.

Wike? He is campaigning on Alcohol. He does not know what he says or does most of the time,” he wrote.

‎In his reaction, Odinkalu questioned the direction and seriousness of Wike’s actions in the public space.

‎According to Odinkalu, Wike appears to be campaigning around alcohol rather than clear political ideas or policies.

‎He stated that the minister often does not seem fully aware of what he says or does.

His statements suggested concern about judgment and responsibility in public office.

‎The comment came as part of a reply to another social media user who asked whether Wike was campaigning for the Senate and questioned the reason for his frequent tours.

‎Odinkalu’s response dismissed the idea of a structured political campaign, instead framing Wike’s actions as lacking focus.

Odinkalu has in recent weeks made several public remarks about Wike’s behaviour, especially following viral videos showing alcohol being displayed during official or semi-official engagements.

‎These videos have triggered widespread debate on social media about leadership standards and public conduct.

‎Critics of the FCT minister argue that such actions lower the dignity of public office and send the wrong message to the public.
