The White House is organizing a meeting on Friday with executives from major U.S. oil companies, including Exxon, Chevron, and ConocoPhillips, to discuss Venezuela. The Trump administration has been pressuring Caracas to open its vast but struggling oil industry to American investment and technical expertise.

Earlier today, Venezuelan authorities reported that at least 24 Venezuelan security officers were k+lled during a U.S. military operation to capture President Nicolás Maduro and bring him to the United States to face dr¥g-related charges. Cuban officials confirmed that 32 Cuban military and police personnel assisting Venezuela were also k+lled. Seven U.S. service members were inj¥red in the raid; five have returned to duty while two are still recovering from g+nshot and shrapnel wounds.

Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, criticized U.S. threats, stating, “Personally, to those who thr+aten me: My destiny is not determined by them, but by God.” Attorney General Tarek William Saab described the d+aths as “dozens” of officers and civilians, calling for an investigation into what he described as a potential “w@r cr+me.”

The Venezuelan military posted a tribute to the slain officers on Instagram, showing their faces over black-and-white videos of soldiers, American aircraft, and destroyed armored vehicles. “Their spilled blood does not cry out for vengeance, but for justice and strength,” the post read. “It reaffirms our unwavering oath not to rest until we rescue our legitimate President, completely dismantle the terrorist groups operating from abroad, and ensure that events such as these never again sully our sovereign soil.”

Despite days of deserted streets following the operation, Caracas briefly saw public gatherings with people waving Venezuelan flags and celebrating the government with patriotic music.
