President Bola Tinubu is set to leave Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where he will perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage involving prayers and other religious rites.
The trip was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, the spiritual journey will give the President an opportunity to reflect and pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued development.
During his stay in Makkah, Tinubu is expected to observe the various rites associated with Umrah while seeking Allah’s “guidance and blessings” for Nigeria and its citizens.
Before leaving the country, the President is scheduled to commission newly acquired equipment for the Nigerian Air Force at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the pilgrimage.
