Media Personality Shola has narrated how he lost ₦180 million in a tech investment deal in 2024, leading to the arrest and remand of a developer identified as Blessing Anuwa, whom he accused of masterminding a ₦360 million fra¥d.

On his X page, @itsSh0la, he recounted that an acquaintance introduced him to a businessman seeking investment in an existing tech project. After meetings attended by his lawyer and presentations that convinced him of the project’s potential, he invested ₦180 million in exchange for attractive returns.

However, problems began when repayment became due, as the businessman allegedly kept requesting additional funds to resolve issues with the project.

He later discovered that the man he dealt with was not the actual developer but had a childhood friend named Blessing handling the project. He also learnt that Blessing had invested over ₦120 million in the same venture before his involvement.

He said he initially remained patient despite hearing repeated excuses from December 2024 until April 2026, before eventually reporting the matter to the police in early April.

According to him, investigators questioned the businessman and established that the funds had been transferred to Blessing. Although the developer reportedly told his childhood friend that he was in China, police investigations allegedly traced him to Ibadan, where he had relocated from Lagos and was living lavishly with his wife.

He added that Blessing and his family later pleaded for forgiveness, while court proceedings commenced. Although the suspect was granted bail in July, he reportedly remained in Kirikiri Prison after failing to meet his bail conditions. The next court hearing is scheduled for January 2027.

He added that the money had already been spent and that he would rather allow the suspect to face the law than continue hoping he would recover the funds and repay him.
