*Oshodi Residents Decry Indiscriminate Arrests and Harassment by Alleged ‘Anti-Cult Squad’ call attention of Local Government Chairman , House of Rep and Lagos state Assemby members, councillors and all Stake Holders Attention for Investigation*

We urge every member of our community to remain vigilant. A resident recently narrated how he was harassed and unlawfully arrested by a group of six men operating in a korope (mini-bus) and wearing aprons inscribed “Anti-Cult Squad” These men, armed and posing as law enforcement agents, reportedly carried out indiscriminate arrests in broad daylight between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. within our community. This particular incident occurred on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

According to the victim, he was assaulted in front of his shop along Ajisegiri/Oyegunwa Street and forcefully bundled into their bus despite his explanations of innocence. He further recounted that he and others arrested were taken first to Akinpelu Police Station and later transferred to Area F. There, they were coerced into writing statements dictated by the arresting officers, who eventually confirmed that they were indeed police officers. The victim stated that after severe beatings, he was compelled to contact his relatives to raise money for bail before he and others were released.

As law-abiding residents of Oshodi, we appreciate and support genuine efforts by the police to maintain security in our neighbourhood. However, we strongly reject and condemn the indiscriminate harassment and unlawful arrest of innocent citizens under the guise of law enforcement.

We therefore call on the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Authority, commissioner for housing , our constituency representative at Member house of Rep, Lagos state house of assembly, CDA, CDC, and all relevant stakeholders to immediately intervene and hold the responsible officers accountable for their actions.

OMSE, CDA, CDC, Oshodi Local Government Chairman, Leader Oshodi-Isolo Legislature, and all Councillors — over to you
