The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State, Honourable Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo on Wednesday visited the burnt Makinde Police station in Oshodi.

The station was among the 16 burnt police stations in the state in the wake of the violent protests that erupted last week in the state.

MC Oluomo was accused of sponsoring attacks on #EndSARS protesters in Alausa. He was accused alongside the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.

He, however, denied sponsoring the attack against protesters.

He also denied collecting any money from anyone to sponsor thugs to the protests.

A day after the attack on the protesters, MC Oluwo sent water and drinks to the protesters in order to redeemed his image. The drinks were branded in his name.

The protesters, however, rejected them, throwing the bottles at the white van that conveyed them.

MC Oluomo in State issued on Thursday said,

‘My good people of Lagos State, yesterday Wednesday 28th of October, 2020, I went out to see for myself the extent of destruction that was occasioned by the hijacked #EndSars protest. This is indeed a trying period of our national existence.

Firstly, my deepest condolences to the families of those that lost loved ones in the process, I pray God gives you the heart to bear the irreplaceable lost.

To those injured, my heart is with you and I pray for your speed recoveries.

”My empathy and sympathy are with those who in one way or the other were affected or hurt by the spate of arson, looting and destruction of our national heritage and private properties, as witnessed across the country last week”.

”I salute the courage of the Nigerian youths who have spoken up and made their agitations and demands known. I appreciate their levels of decorum and maturity”.

”As we much forward in our national journey, I urge us to pray for the peace of Nigeria, particularly Lagos state and environs.”

”My visit to Makinde Police Station in Mafoluku, Oshodi and some other places that were burnt/destroyed by hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful #EndSars protest is truly regrettable. There is no justification for such destruction. These public places and assets were provided by our money and it does not make sense destroying such facilities or any one for that matter. Countless numbers of BRT buses that were burnt readily come to mind.

May I put it on record that no member of the NURTW has been arrested or identify as being part of the hoodlums that went about burning and looting. I commend the NURTW family for this and I urge them to maintain their good behaviours.

As we all strive to keep and maintain the peace we have now in Lagos, and among the NURTW family, I pray God will put an end to all occurrences of lawlessness and anarchy in Nigerian States, He said.”
