A former United States, US, Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, has reacted to the rearrest of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Campbell cautioned the Nigerian government on the handling of Kanu’s trial.
He issued the warning in a tweet on his official Twitter handle.
According to Campbell: “Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was apprehended abroad on June 27 and has been returned to Nigeria for trial. If the government botches Kanu’s trial, it risks further inflaming separatism.”
Kanu was apprehended on Sunday and repatriated to Nigeria to continue his trial.
The rearrest of the IPOB leader was disclosed by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
