UK Not Involved in Venezuela Operation — Prime Minister Starmer

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said the United Kingdom was not involved in the reported United States operation in Venezuela that led to the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.

Starmer made this known during a brief interview on Saturday, shared via his official X account, reacting to reports of the US action in Venezuela. He disclosed that he had not yet spoken with US President Donald Trump since the development.

According to the prime minister, the situation remains fluid and the UK is prioritising the safety of its citizens in Venezuela while working with allies to establish the full facts.

“The situation in Venezuela is fast moving. We will establish all the facts and speak to allies,” Starmer said. “Our embassy in Caracas is working to ensure that all British nationals in Venezuela are supported.”

He added, “I haven’t spoken to President Trump yet. What I can say is that the UK is not involved in any way in this operation. As expected, our focus is on British nationals in Venezuela, and we are working very closely with our embassy.”

Starmer stressed that consultations with allies, including the United States, would follow once more details become clear.

OSMEK NEWS  had earlier reported that President Trump announced the capture of Maduro and his wife in a post on his Truth Social account on Saturday.

Trump claimed the operation was carried out by the United States in conjunction with US law enforcement agencies, adding that further details would be provided at a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
