“I Feel Like Nigerian Food In London Sometimes Tastes Better Than Ones Back Home” — Nigerian UK-Based, Media Personality, Miss Demz Sparks Debate

Content creator Miss Demz has ignited conversations online after openly sharing her opinion on Nigerian cuisine abroad, claiming that Nigerian food served in London often surpasses what is available back home.

Speaking on the Lagos Meets London podcast, Miss Demz said, “I feel like the Nigerian food I’ve had in London sometimes tastes better than what we get back home, the consistency, presentation and hygiene are just on another level.” She explained that many Nigerian restaurants in the UK operate in a highly competitive environment, which pushes chefs to refine traditional recipes and maintain high standards.

She further noted that stricter food regulations, better kitchen facilities, and access to quality ingredients contribute to the improved dining experience. According to her, while Nigeria remains the heart of authentic flavors, the execution abroad is often more polished because businesses are closely monitored and customer expectations are higher.

Her comments have generated mixed reactions, with some agreeing that diaspora restaurants elevate Nigerian dishes, while others insist that local food prepared in Nigeria still delivers unmatched depth, originality, and cultural richness.
