The Labour Party governorship candidate in Enugu State, Barr. Chijoke Edeoga, has broken silence amidst the ongoing crisis rocking the State.
OSMEK NEWS had rep[orted that men of Enugu State Police Command, earlier today, clashed with hundreds of Ogbete Main Market traders who were protesting the sealing of their shops by the state government. Two protesters were shot dead while many others reportedly sustained varying degrees of bullet injuries.
Reacting to the incident through his verified Twitter handle, Edeoga cashed in on the public sentiments and condemned Governor Peter Mbah for attempting to cancel sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
“I have just been notified of the death of a trader, protesting the sealing of his shop in Enugu metropolis.
“This is Sad, unfortunate and avoidable. Human life is sacred and must be treated as such. I call on the security agencies to engage the protesters in a more civil manner to avoid breakdown of law and order in our dear state.
“Legitimate Protest is the right of every citizen as enshrined in our constitution,” Edeoga said.
