Federal lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, is dead.
OSMEK NEWS gathered that, Ubah died on Saturday morning in a London hospital after a brief illness.
He was flown to the United Kingdom for medical treatment.
His condition reportedly became critical in the past 48 hours.
Until his death, Ubah was elected Senator in 2019 on the platform of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, and reelected on that platform in 2023.
He defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, earlier this year and has indicated interest in seeking the governorship of Anambra State in next year’s election.
Ubah contested the 2021 Anambra governorship election and came fourth in a contest won by Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
He was the CEO of Capital Oil, which he established in 2001.
In September 2022, Ubah narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by gunmen while traveling to Nnewi in Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State.
Reports said that his convoy was attacked, resulting in the deaths of at least five people, including two police officers, according to the police.
He is survived by his wife Uchenna and their five children.
