A bandits’ kingpin, Kachalla Muhammad has said why he reneged on his promise to release wife of retired Major General Abubakar Rabe, Hajiya Amina Abubakar.
The couple were ambushed along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli road in Matazu Local Government Area in Katsina State since May 30.
“I had promised the General that I would release his wife, but the deployment of security personnel in the area made me change my mind,” the bandits’ kingpin said in an audio message circulating on social media.

He held back on the promises release, he said because he did not want security men to take credit for it, even as arrests of his men has also worsened dialogue or possible release of their captives.
He also reiterated demand for the release of three of his men in the hands of security men, and the return of cattle allegedly seized during security operations in the Jikamshi area, saying this could pave way for a reciprocation from their side.
