Abandoned one day-old baby rescued from a gutter in Awka

A day-old baby has been rescued by a Good Samaritan at Abuja Estates behind NSCDC office Awka,Anambra, on Saturday, Oct 3,2020.

According to the PPPRO, Anambra Police command, SP. Haruna Mohammed, at about 7:30am, a day old baby boy was wrapped up in a cloth and abandoned inside a gutter at same area by unknown person.

All efforts made to trace the mother of the baby proved abortive.Scene was visited by the police and the baby who is in good health condition was rescued and handed over to a medical centre in Awka for safe keeping.

Meanwhile,the Ministry of Social Welfare children and women affairs was contacted and the baby will be handed over to the Social Welfare department for proper care.
