Alleged bribe-seeking Road Safety Officer escapes lynching in Kaduna

An alleged bribe-seeking Nigeria road safety officer, who almost caused a fatal accident, after jumping on the bonnet of a moving car, in a bid to stop the owner, has escaped being lynched by angry mob in Kaduna State.

The incident occurred at by-pass, Kurmin Mashi junction, at about 11:40am today, July 5, 2020.

According to an eyewitness, “The officer tried to stop a traffic offender but the man refused to stop. The officer then jumped on his bonnet and hung onto it as the man drove on the high way.

His other colleagues gave the offender a hot chase. They finally caught up with him at Kurmin Mashi junction and wanted to arrest him when angry mob intervened and descended on the bribe-seeking officer.

The mob also descended on the road safety vehicle, bashed the rear screen, his colleagues later ran away but later came with police to rescue the embattled officer. He has since been taken to the hospital for treatment.”
