APC state congress: Sen Abe’s loyalist withdraws from chairmanship contest in Rivers
One of the aspirants vying for the position of chairman in the Rivers State All Progressives Congress, Ben Golden Chioma, has pulled out of the exercise.
Chioma is one of the loyalists of Senator Magnus Abe.
Confirming his withdrawal from the contest, the former state lawmaker faulted the process of electing the delegates for the state congress.
He disclosed that he had already written to the national leadership of the party who had sent in a delegation to look into his concerns.
With his withdrawal, only two aspirants are left in the contest for the state APC chairmanship position, Japhet Nyeomasili, and former state secretary of the party, Chief Emeka Beke, who is believed to be the preferred candidate.
At the time of filing this report, delegates from various local government areas were still being called to cast their votes.
