Biafra Day: Sit-at-home grounds activities in Ebonyi

Activities in Ebonyi State were grounded on Thursday as residents complied with the sit-at-home ordered of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to mark the May 30th Biafra Day.
It was gathered that banks, schools, offices and businesses, including eateries, shopping malls and markets, were all under lock.
However, there were few cars on the road, as motor parks were also shut down.
A few commercial motorcyclists operated around the city centre.
They may have been emboldened to come out due to the heavy presence of machine gun welding security men moving around in convoys.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state has postponed its delegates congress earlier scheduled to hold today across the state.
Though the party in a statement claimed the reason for the postponement is to allow for screening of aspirants, it is believed that the shift may be because of the sit-at-home order.
“The 5-Man Delegates Congress and Councillorship Primary Elections of the party will now hold on Friday, May 31, 2024, in the 13 LGAs across the state,” the statement signed by Stanley Emegha, the party chairman, added.
