Gunmen have reportedly killed the lawmaker representing Baraza Dass constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Mante Baraza.
According to DailyPost, the gunmen stormed the lawmaker’s house in Baraza Village on Thursday evening and killed him.
A member of the House, Hon. Abdul Ahmed Bura confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on the telephone, saying that, “It is true. That is how we heard the sad news of his death.”
Bura also confirmed the kidnapping of the deceased lawmaker’s wives and son, adding that as of this morning, the kidnapped women and child are still with the gunmen at an unknown destination.
The state police command confirmed the incident, adding that investigations are going on to arrest the culprits and rescue the kidnapped women and child.
The police gave the names of the kidnapped wives and daughter as Rashida Musa Mante (40); Rahina Musa Mante (35) and one-year-old Fausar Musa Mante.
They added that four empty shells of live ammunition were recovered at the scene of the crime.
The lawmaker according to Sahara reporters is said to have recuperating at his home after testing positive for COVID-19 some weeks ago, when the incident occured.
