The Jikweyi-Kurudu- Karshi axis of the Federal Capital Territory has been blocked from vehicular and commercial activities as some protesters took to burning tyres on the road this afternoon.

Although fuel scarcity persists, few vehicles plying the route as of noon today were seen diverting back to the direction they were coming from.

The same scenario was observed in the opposite direction as some tricycle operators were seen running from danger.

Some uniformed personnel stationed at the district Police station along Kurudu, directly opposite the Post Service Housing Estate were seen on red alert with their tear gas and canisters handy.

Some residents living by the roadside were seen watching from afar as police personnel got to the scene.

Meanwhile, the Karshi-Nyanya- AYA road which is usually characterized by heavy traffic in the early hours of the day was on Thursday deserted.

Crowds of commuters were seen standing at the adjoining bus stops with no hope of getting transport to their respective destinations.

Most civil servants and traders stayed back home for fear of negative consequences.

The #Endbadgovernance protest started in the early hours of Thursday, August 1st with protesters around the city centre confined to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

At the major military checkpoint situated in the Kugbo area along Abuja–Keffi expressway, a heavily armed lone soldier was seen checking the few vehicles on the deserted road.

Also at the Fire Service end as well as Supreme Court gates of the road that leads to the Presidential Villa in Asokoro, there was a large deployment of security personnel including Soldiers, Police and DSS operatives who checked commuters and vehicles accessing the area.
