Bribe-seeking policeman leaves two hawkers battling for their lives in Benin

There was tension in the Ugbowo area of Benin City, Edo State, yesterday evening, after a bus driver hit two boys selling sachet water by the roadside.

It was gathered that a policeman attached to BDPA police station, was struggling with the driver for the control of the steering wheel, when he rammed into the boys.

The officer was subsequently apprehended while the unconscious hawkers were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors are currently battling to save their lives.

According to reports, the police officer refused to let go of the steering wheel because he wanted to collect a bribe of N100.
