Buhari endorses online radio licensing, TV channels

The registration of online radio and television stations has been endorsed by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.

OsmekNews reports that when he received representatives of the Nigerian Broadcasting Organizations (BON) on a courtesy visit, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, revealed this in Abuja on Friday.

The member of parliament said the Federal Government responded to BON’s petition for the Broadcasting Code assessment.

His words: “I just want to take this chance to inform you that Mr. President has already endorsed a Broadcast Code review that will deal with many of the problems you have raised here.

“In specific, the President has endorsed the licensing of WebTVs and radio stations, including international broadcasters beaming signals to Nigeria, as we need to introduce health to this sector. Mr. President also approved a broad variety of sector reforms that I will let you know on the suitable platform, “the minister said.
