President Buhari has reacted to the killing of a lawmaker in Zamfara state, hours after he had joined the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
The president expressed ‘deep shock’ at the killing of Zamfara state House of Assembly member, Muhammad Ahmad by bandits.
Muhammad Ahmad was attacked by armed bandits while driving to Kano along Shema-Funtua Road, Katsina on Tuesday after welcoming his stage governor Bello Matawalle to the All Progressives Congress.
Buhari, in a statement released by his spokesman Garba Shehu on Thursday, mourned Ahmad, and prayed for Allah to grant him forgiveness.
“I am deeply shocked by the tragic circumstances in which the lawmaker died while driving his son to Kano to board a flight.
“May Allah forgive the soul of the deceased and grant his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the president said.
Buhari reiterated his directive to the country’s armed forces to deal sternly with criminal elements bent on harming innocent citizens and creating fear and uncertainties under whatever guise.
