…Calls on Christians in politics to show godly example in governance

The leadership of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN has tasked Christians especially those holding political positions to see their political platform as a unique mission field and portray the light of Christ in their daily living.

The Church also tasked the federal government and the various labour unions to resolve their issues so the populace is not subjected to further hardship as the result of squabbles between the government and unions.

These views were contained in a communique issued in Jos at the end of the COCIN 105th General Church Council, GCC, and signed by the COCIN President, Rev. Amos Mohzo, and the General Secretary, Rev. Benjamin Pokol.

According to the communique, “… At the end of the session, the GCC calls members in politics to be the light of Christ in their dealings and view the political platform as their unique mission field; calls on the federal government and the various labour unions to quickly resolve their issues in the best interest of the populace and laments the constant economic inflation caused by the high cost of fuel and many infrastructural and policy factors resulting in severe hardship in the country.

“The GCC laments the incessant killings, human trafficking, rape, kidnappings and attacks by terrorists in various communities across the nation and urges governments to provide more interventions that will alleviate the suffering and bring succour to Nigerians…”

The Church further called on the governments at all levels to step up their security strategies and revisit the issues affecting the displaced persons and farmers as the result of terrorist attacks to enable them to return to their ancestral lands some of which have been taken over by the marauders.”
