Celebrities in Nigeria have reacted over the social media regulation bill, pushed by former actor and law maker Desmond Elliot.
Desmond Elliot at the Lagos State House of Assembly, spoke on the negative impact of social media, as he called for social media regulation.
He also referred to Nigerian youths as “children” which has caused controversy on social media, as Nigerian youths slammed him for his statement.
The viral video of Desmond’s statement was released after he denied pushing for regulation policy. He said;
“When I went through the comment, I could not believe it Mr Speaker. The curses, the abuses from children. And I ask myself ‘Is this Nigeria? What is going on?’ Children cursing?”

He continued: “Mr Speaker, in the next five years, Nigerian is gone if we don’t start now.”
“All of these are making the narratives that we are seeing today. Except we’re joking with ourselves. Social media, though good, has its negative impacts.” He added.
Nigerian celebrities including Davido, Don Jazzy, kemi Akindoju, Uche Jombo and many others have reacted to Desmond Elliot’s statement, as they took to social media to drag him.

On Twitter, Nigerians are calling the former actor an “Idiot” as they trend the hashtag, “Desmond Idiot” on the micro blogging app.
Honestly I’m more than disappointed in Desmond Elliot. I’m so shocked. Anyway, we have been praying that God should expose the real state of mind of our leaders. Now we know how he really processes things. I pray the people he looks forward to representing in 2023 remember today
