Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello on Sunday, distributed the state’s COVID-19 palliatives to vulnerable youths and women.
The Governor also used the opportunity to warn hoodlums to stay away from attacking peoples’ properties in the state, saying such actions will attract severe punishment for anyone caught.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo on Sunday in Lokoja said the Governor appreciated the people of the state who turned out at the State Warehouse to share the remaining palliatives.
The statement said the palliatives were preserved for women and youth groups after the government had distributed the bulk of the palliatives to all the 21 LGAs of the state.
The state government said it was certain that the LGAs authorities distributed the palliatives accordingly to help in ameliorating the hardship visited on the nation as a result of the COVID-19.
“We urge our people to continue to stand tall in public conduct as Government will always put their welfare on the front burners,” the statement added.
“The Government of Kogi State also wishes to sound a note of warning to miscreants that all constitutional efforts will be geared towards protecting shop owners in the state as any violation of law and order will be met with superior resistance by Law Enforcement Agencies.
“Our people should go about their normal businesses as Kogi State remains safe.”
