Atsi Kefas, the younger sister of the governor of Taraba State, has died from gunshot wounds sustained during an attack in Kente village, Wukari local government council of the state
The 44-year-old, as gathered by our reporter, in Taraba, succumbed to her injuries at a private hospital in Abuja, where she had been receiving treatment after being transferred from the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari.
However, conflicting reports have emerged regarding the circumstances of the attack.
While some sources claim it was the result of a bandit attack, others suggest it may have been caused by an accidental discharge from a security operative travelling with her.
The state police command, through spokesperson Usman Abdullahi, has, however, attributed the incident to an armed robbery.
As of the time of this report, the state government has not issued an official statement regarding the tragic incident, and the lack of clarity has fueled widespread condemnation and concerns over the persistent insecurity in Taraba.
Her death has added to the growing anxiety over safety in the state, where such attacks have become increasingly frequent.
