Graphic: Newborn baby sustains burn injuries as lantern falls on her during birth

A newborn baby has sustained severe burn injuries after a big lantern, which was being used to illuminate the room her mom delivered her, mistakenly fell on her as soon she was delivered at Marian, Calabar, Cross River State.

The unfortunate incident happened on Saturday, November 14, 2020, after the mom, identified as Mrs Okon Daniel, visited a local home to deliver her child due to lack of money to go to a hospital.

According to a source, the baby was rushed to Victoria medical centre but was later transferred to Women and Children Hospital and then to the state general hospital, where she’s currently receiving treatment.
