Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in a commercial tricycle popularly known as Keke have abducted over fifteen passengers in a bus belonging to a popular Delta transport company and a red SUV along the East West Road between Ughelli and Warri close to Agbarho police station.
The bus which was said to be coming from port Harcourt to Warri was ambushed by the gunmen who according to eyewitness report took their victims to the forest after shooting sporadically to scare motorists and wounding some in the process, with some running for their lives including policemen after leaving their vehicles on the highway.
When contacted, the Delta police commissioner Hafiz Inuwa who confirmed the incident, said investigation and efforts to rescue the victims is ongoing.
The Ughell/Warri road have been notorious for criminal activities during the EMBER month, with the police area commander last week reading the riot act to criminals.
