Hit-and-run Vehicle Crushes Man In Awka, Anambra State Capital

A hit-and-run vehicle on 5th February, 2021, hit a man whose age is not immediately known at the UBA end of the Aroma junction flyover, Awka, while trying to cross the expressway.

The man, identified as Engineer Robert Ofoegbu, is said to hail from Azigbo, in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, according to one Mr. Chukwudi Obiegbunam, who arrived the accident scene and introduced himself as the President-General of the community.

Eyewitnesses at the scene, including Mr. Uchenna Chukwubuikem and Princess Salome Egede, who attributed the incident to over speeding and careless crossing of the highway, however called for construction of pedestrian crossing at the spot and other strategic areas to avert similar incident.

FRSC officials who arrived the scene shortly, took the victim to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, for medical examination.

Found on the victim were undisclosed amount of money, rosary, mobile phones, phone charger and assorted recharge cards.
