General Yakubu Gowon, a former Nigerian Head of State, has been accused of stealing half of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) by a member of the United Kingdom parliament.

British parliament member made the allegation on Monday, November 23 during the House deliberation on the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest, and possible sanctions to be meted on top Nigerians regarding the roles they played in the killing of unarmed protesters at the Lekki toll gate.

General Yakubu Gowon in denial of the allegation said;

“What the MP said about me looting half of money in Central Bank was just mere ridicule and I don’t know as to where he cooked up such statement. I served Nigeria as much as I could and my achievements during those years are available to everyone,” he said.

“I don’t want to talk over the matter since those who know me very well say that the MP’s statement is nothing but a mere fallacy,” he added.
