Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has summoned the Provost of 1 Police Mobile Force (MOPOL) Kaduna, DSP Aliyu Adejembi, and his team for questioning after a viral video showed them receiving cash handouts from Chinese nationals.
According to SaharaReporters, the officers were deployed to Lagos on special duty with the Chinese business people when the incident occurred. The video, which has sparked widespread criticism, shows the MOPOL officers visibly lining up to collect money.
A police wireless message dated April 15, 2025, directed the Provost, DSP Adejembi, and his team to report to the Inspector General through the Police Press Force Unit on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., labeling the issue as a matter of serious concern involving professional and discreditable conduct.
