This is celebrated every 10th of January at the seaside. Two days before the celebration, we baptize people at the Riverside so they can collect the river’s blessings. On the night before the main event, sacrifices are made at the seaside to the gods, then the following morning, the celebration takes place.
This is a celebration of all the gods which includes the god of iron, water goddess, god of thunder, Ogun spirit, Zangbetô, Egungun and the dead people.
That’s the date our forefathers chose for the celebration of all the gods and since then, we, the children have been following their footsteps and we can’t change the date or stop the celebration of the Voodoo festival.
Before the celebration, people who know about it are the same people telling friends and families about the blessings they get from the festival.
We celebrate all those gods so that all those who come to them will be comforted, favoured and their problems will be solved.
And if you come to the festival with any kind of problems, such as sicknesses, business problems, family problems, barrenness, spiritual attacks or if you have been cursed from childhood, the moment you speak out your problem, they will baptize you and give you water to use when you get home and believe me, all your problems will leave you and you will see changes. After one year again, you will come to give thanks to the gods by coming for the Voodoo festival.
We receive special guests like the community chiefs, the Oba Akran of Badagry, the Oba Sejiro of Kweme kingdom, the Baales, like the Baale of Aketegbo, the Baale of Ashipa, etc.
