King Soopers Shooting: Suspect Ahmad Al-Issa kills 10

21-year-old Arvada identified as Ahmad Al-Issa, has been arrested and suspected to be the man behind Monday’s mass shooting at King Soopers.

The man who was described to be violent, short-tempered and paranoid during high school, by his former classmates, is a Syrian immigrant who came into the United States at the age of 3.

He is suspected of killing 10 people at the grocery store Monday when he walked in around 2:30 p.m. and began shooting, according to law enforcement. He was taken into custody about an hour later with a gunshot wound in his leg, and remained in the hospital on Tuesday morning.

He was charged with 10 counts of murder in the first degree, though officials offered no details on a suspected motive.

Investigators believe there are no other suspects involved in the shooting.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis on Tuesday ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings across the state for 10 days “to honor and remember” the 10 victims who lost their lives in the shooting at the King Soopers supermarket shooting in Boulder.

In a statement, Polis (D) shared his condolences to all those who lost a loved one, and added that the tragic events represent a “a loss for all of us, and we mourn the ten who died as a state and a nation.”
