Kogi West: What Dino Melaye said about the judgment of the Tribunal

Senator Dino Melaye claims he will file the Kogi State National Assembly / State Assembly Inauguration Petition Court decision, which previously today annulled his election as senator for Kogi West.

OsmekNews had previously revealed that on Friday morning, August 23, the court annulled the Kogi West election of Senator Melaye.

This internet news media recounts that Senator Melaye was declared the winner of the Kogi West Senatorial election in February by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The statistics declared by INEC did show that Senator Melaye, who expected to win the election on the opposing party PDP platform, managed to score 85,395 votes to overthrow the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Smart Adeyemi, who managed to score 66,901 votes.

Unhappy with the election consequence proclaimed by INEC, Adeyemi approached the court which, on Friday, ruled in his favor.

In a unanimous judgement, a three-man committee led by Justice A. O. Chijioke recognized the ground of Adeyemi and granted re-election in the gubernatorial district of Kogi West.

Twitter, Melaye, who wishes to be Kogi Governor, responding to the decision in a tweet on the auto-blogging site, ensured his followers that there was no reason to be alarmed, stating that if the court had ruled in his favour, his opponent would have contacted the court of appeal.

“On Tribunal judgment. No cause 4 alarm at all. Even if it went my way they will still go to the Appeal Court. Our mandate can not be taken.

“We will get judgment at the Appeal Court. There will be fresh election in Kogi West bc I will be Governor. For my Senate mandate no shaking.”
