An Upper Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, has granted controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, bail set at ₦1 million following his arraignment on multiple charges including def@mation, intimid@tion, inciting public dist¥rbance, and cyberst@lking.

The court ruled that the bail is dependent on the provision of two sureties in the same amount. One must be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), and the other must own a property in a Government Reserved Area (GRA) with a valid Certificate of Occupancy.

The charges were brought against Portable based on a petition filed by Fuji musician Okunola Saheed Osupa (aka Osupa) on March 21, 2025. The petition stems from an Instagram live video Portable posted on March 19, in which he allegedly def@med Osupa, accusing him of being jealous of his success and attempting to s@botage his music career.

In the video, Portable reportedly said: “This man dey try bring down my shine! He be like person wey dey chop snail with shell—him no get sense. Osupa na tortoise. When Apple Music and Spotify wan drop money for me, na him remove my song from platform make I no see money.”

Osupa claimed the remarks were not only false and d@maging to his reputation but also meant to incite hatred and cause public unrest.

According to police, Portable confessed to the allegations during interrogation at the State Intelligence Department (SID), Ilorin. He was subsequently charged under various laws, including Sections 392, 114, and 397 of the Penal Code, as well as provisions of the Cybercr+mes Act, 2015 and the V+olence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2020.

ASP Adeniyi James, the Investigating Police Officer, confirmed the charges were filed following instructions from police authorities.

Portable, who hails from Oke-Osa in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, remains in custody pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions. The case has been adjourned, and the judge has urged all parties to remain orderly as proceedings continue.
