A chieftain of Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organization, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has described the President-elect, Bola Tinubu as an Igbo man.

To this end, Isiguzoro urged Tinubu to carry the Igbos along when he assumes office on May 29.

He was reacting to the Supreme Court ruling that dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, suit to disqualify Tinubu ahead of his inauguration.

The Secretary-General of Ohanaeze urged Tinubu to see Nigeria as his constituency now.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Isiguzoro said: “We accept the verdict as the will of God that come May 29, Tinubu, alongside his deputy, will be sworn in and take over the mantle of leadership from Buhari.

“We want to let Tinubu know now that Nigeria is his constituency, and all the roadblocks to ensure that he never mounted the rostrum of Nigeria’s leadership have been dismantled.

“Let me tell you, Tinubu is an Igbo man, and he has chieftaincy titles in Igboland. Having belonged to one of the prominent traditional institutions, he is an Igbo son, and he should look towards the Southeast as his people.

“He should remember that the Southwest didn’t vote for Obasanjo in 1999, but that did not stop him from carrying his people along.

“Tinubu should take Ndigbo as his people and ensure that he carries us along because we supported him at the risk of our lives. When we congratulated him, there were a lot of provocative threats, but God in his mercy has disgraced those who want to ensure that Ohanaeze never supported Tinubu.”

The Ohanaeze chieftain cautioned Igbos against participating in any protest against Tinubu.

He added: “We are advising Ndigbos not to tale to the streets and protest against Tinubu. If there is crisis today in Nigeria, some Northerners will vacate to Chad and Niger, but if there is trouble, where will Ndigbo run to?

“The Yorubas may run to Benin Republic, the peace and stability of this country always revolve around the Igbos because we have invested a lot. It’s better at this moment that Ndigbos must support the president-elect.

“The victory of Tinubu at the Supreme Court is that of Ndigbo, he transformed Lagos and we are expecting him to do the same with Nigeria with his renewed hope.”
